Snow Procedures

When the MET Office issue weather warnings they often send a message directly to schools. When this happens we will let everyone know via X (formerly Twitter), the school website news page, and via the mobile APP. This is so that our families and staff can take extra care when travelling to school, knowing what to expect with regard to the weather. We hope that this is helpful to everyone.

Keeping the school open is our main priority. However, there are times when we have to close due to adverse weather. As soon as a decision is made we aim to inform families and staff. We do this in a range of ways. We telephone Radio Leeds and ask them to announce on live radio. They usually do this at a quarter and quarter to the hour. We also inform Leeds City Council and ask them to announce the closure on their websites.

We ask everyone to be aware that, despite our best plans, we sometimes have difficulty accessing the internet on snow days. When this happens we rely total upon Radio Leeds because all of the other methods require internet access. Last of all, we ask everyone to remember that we do our best to keep school open and reduce impact of closure when it has to happen.
