Same Day Intervention
In our Key Stage One and Two maths lessons we use a strategy called Same Day intervention:
- The children are taught together at the beginning of the lesson with lots of opportunities to have a go and discuss their learning.
- The children are then given a short task to check their understanding.
- The children then go to assembly. While they are at assembly, teachers assess children's understanding to see who needs more support and who is ready for further challenge.
- After assembly, some children will receive further support from the teacher, some will do some more independent practise and some will be given a challenge to deepen their understanding.
Same Day Intervention ensures that children receive the right support and the right type of work to make good progress.
